Project Bridge Summer Internships

While many of Project Bridge's adult volunteers focus primarily on eliminating, or at minimizing, the summertime learning loss for struggling students who will be entering or repeating first, second, or third grade, the Interns are dedicated to nurturing each child's social/emotional growth and character/faith development. They are trained and work together to implement the "Love in a Big World" curriculum for a small group of children assigned to them.

Internship details

Five-week paid internship program for college students
Encourage & provide opportunities for each child to become a better reader
Learn and gain experience using instructional techniques
Work with volunteers
Connect with students and families
Experience local mission opportunities
Responsible for the teaching the social emotional learning component of the program

In this program, interns gain substantial leadership experiences and further explore how God may be calling them to serve.

Interviews: Beginning Sunday, March 29, 2026 beginning at 2 p.m. at Paris First United Methodist Church.

Intern Notification: Tuesday, March 31, 2026

Intern Retreat/Orientation: Wednesday and Thursday, May 16-17, 2026 (overnight) - location TBD

Intern Dinner and Training begins: Tuesday, May 26 from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

Intern Training and Preparation continues: Wednesday & Thursday, May 27-28; Friday, May 29 from 1-4 p.m. & Monday, June 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Project Bridge Orientation and Assessment Day: Friday, May 29 from 7 a.m. to Noon; Lead-Off Luncheon at Noon

Project Bridge Program: Tuesday, June 2 to Friday, June 26 (Tuesday to Friday)

Mission Immersion Experiences: June 1 (1/2 day), 8, 15, 22

Dinners and "Missional Moments": One evening each week

Prepare for Closing Program: Friday, June 26 from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. & Saturday, June 27 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Intern Closing Dinner: Friday, June 26

Program Celebration Meal & Graduation: Saturday, June 27 from Noon to 2:30 p.m.

Internship Closing: Saturday, June 27 by 6 p.m.

Bridge Club Gatherings: September & November 2026; February and April 2027 (TBD later) - invited but not mandatory
